Judge Rating Entrants In Horsemanship As Rodeo Contest Gets Underway

This morning seven 101 Ranch Rodeo queen contestants were practicing their pattern for judging at 4 o'clock this afternoon.

Due to the heavy rains of Thursday evening and the condition of the rodeo arena, horsemanship judging will. be in the arena at the Hatfield Stables, according to Mrs. Neita Rogers, general chairman of the queen contest.

The girls made no attempt to appear in the arena for the first performance of the rodeo; but are expected to be riding in the 8 o'clock grand entry tonight.

This noon the girls were the guests with their Ponca City Business and Professional Women hostesses at Manning's Restaurant.

Thursday noon they were entertained by the American Business Club at the QuoVadis.

Roy Collins of Broken Arrow, horsemanship judge, will give constructive criticism to each.

The queen candidates, together with the reigning queen, Gayle Harmon of Nowata, will ride in the 101 Ranch Rodeo parade at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The big moment for them will come during the Saturday evening performance, when the queen for 1972 will be crowned.
