101 Ranch Queen, Miss Rodeo Oklahoma To Be In
Ponca City For Annual RodeoReigning 101 Ranch Queen
Janel Boekmann of Okeene and Teresa Carle of Noble, Miss Rodeo
Oklahoma, will be in Ponca City this weekend, Aug. 7-9 for the
annual 101 Ranch Rodeo.
Both will assist members of the Ponca City Business and
Professional Women's Club in coronation activities in connection
with the 1986 101 Ranch Rodeo Queen contest.
Lois Scott, chairman of the event for the BPW Club, said six
young horsewomen have entered the annual contest, vying for the
honor of 1986 101 Ranch Rodeo Queen.
Entrants will ride in the Grand Entry Parade at the rodeo each
evening, led by Miss Boeckmann and Miss Carle. One will be selected
at the Saturday night rodeo performance to carry the title of 1986
101 Ranch Rodeo Queen.
Judging the queens this year will be Terri Hughes, Larry Ledford
and Rose Young, all of Pawhuska, Mrs. Scott announced.
Gifts for the queens will be donated by Grace Memorial Chapel and
Forrest Miles, Queen's barrel racing saddle; Higdon Floral Co., 1979
101 Ranch Rodeo Queen and her sister, Teresa, 1984 101 Ranch Rodeo
Queen and 1986 Miss Rodeo Oklahoma, Queen's crown and banner.
The first runner-up will receive a $100 Savings Bond from
American National Bank, $25 from Julie Berman's Pharmacy and a
trophy; second runner-up, $75 Savings Bond from First National Bank,
$15 from Charlie Cannon Chevrolet, and a trophy; third runner-up,
$50 Savings Bond from Security Bank, $15 from Frank Straw's
Grooming, $15 from Landers Pontiac and $15 from Sutton's Lincoln and
Mercury and a trophy, and fourth runner-up, $50 Savings Bond from
Pioneer Bank & Trust, $35.00 from Sober Bros., Inc. and a trophy.
Miss Congeniality will receive a trophy from Ponca City BPW Club,
$15 from H&P Fine Foods, Inc. and $15 from Bill horn Imports.
Ball's Trophy and Engraving will supply and engrave the trophies
fro the event, according to Ruth Ritter, president of the Ponca City
BPW Club.
A silver belt buckle from the Ponca City Rodeo Foundation and $15
from Ralph's IGA will be presented to the queen contestant selling
the most tickets for the rodeo.
Dr. and Mrs. George Martin are providing stables for the queen
contestants' horses. Accommodations for the judges will be courtesy
of Debi Jorgenson at Holiday Inn, Don and Forrest Mertz of Mertz
Inc. and ay Miller of Miller Market, Fourth and South.
Dining accommodations for the queen contestants will be furnished
by Curtis Norman of Blue Moon Restaurant, Dawson Smith of The Kettle
and Bill Guirl of Golden Corral Family Steakhouse.
Each contestant will be hosted by a member of the BPW Club, Mrs.
