SWEET HARMONY
TRIO -
Thursday Night |
Sweet
Harmony is a musically versatile women’s trio based in Ponca
City, Oklahoma. Donita Cooper, Debbie Green, and Rhonda
Walker have been sharing their sister-like harmony through
Christian music across the state of Oklahoma since 1996.
They have also sung in Branson and in Kansas. Whether
singing contemporary Christian songs, Southern Gospel
favorites, or leading praise & worship, their love for the
Lord Jesus Christ and sharing His gospel of grace and peace
is the purpose of their ministry. They have given concerts,
performed at church revivals, women’s retreats and
conferences, festivals, and special music programs.
Sweet Harmony has recorded two albums. The recently
completed album “Rich in Mercy” was released in April of
2005. The earlier album is entitled “One Heart, One Spirit,
One Voice.” Both albums are sure to please a wide range of
listeners with contemporary Christian songs, a capella
arrangements, Southern Gospel favorites, and patriotic
songs. Additionally, “Rich in Mercy” includes an insightful
and humorous bonus track called “I’m a Mom.”

Dawn Jackson -
Friday Night |
Dawn
Jackson – Dawn Jackson was born and raised in Ponca City and
currently lives here with her husband, Rodney, and their
three children, Sarah (14), Olivia (10) and Trent (2).
As far back as she can remember, she loved to sing and
listen to music. One of her fondest memories is of her
grandfather singing "Delta Dawn" to her, as he would rock
her when she was little. Her father, who was a talented
musician, singer and songwriter, influenced her early years
with folk rock and classic country music such as Simon and
Garfunkel and George Jones. He always seemed to have a
guitar with him and was always singing. Her and her sister
loved to sing along.
She grew up listening to her mother's 45's of 50's, 60's and
70's music and came to love music from several different
genres. Later, her step-dad introduced her to classic rock.
Although she prefers to sing country music, her vocal
influences include female artists such as Olivia
Newton-John, Helen Reddy, Debbie Boone, Crystal Gayle, Reba
McEntire, Rita Coolidge and Linda Ronstadt.
As for her singing experience, in 1992 Dawn joined the
church choir. This opened the door to singing publicly for
the first time. In 2003, she and three fellow church members
formed a contemporary women's quartet, 4th Power. They
shared their music around the local area singing at the Kay
County Fair, Relay for Life events, regional women's events,
as well as several churches in the state. In 2006, two of
the group's members moved out of town but Dawn continued to
sing when given the opportunity. She eventually became the
children's choir leader, adult choir leader and song leader
at her church. Her musical interests now include
participating in the church hand-bell choir and the adult
vocal choir, leading the children's music during Vacation
Bible School and singing solos during worship.
Dawn most recently appeared in the Poncan
Opry June 2010 show at the Poncan Theatre. |
