Benje Bendele, our rodeo's sound man, is the preeminent sound and effects producer in Pro Rodeo, and there is a good reason why. Benje has made this his life. If it happens in the arena, the speakers will rumble with a complementary sound. Whether it's the perfect musical transition or just the right sound effect, Benje has a way of making the ordinary extraordinary. Really, it's just a testament to his passion and understanding of rodeo.
This year's rodeo is again being produced by Andrew's Rodeo Company of Addielou, Texas, promises to be greater than ever with an excellent lineup of contestants, specialty acts, bull fighters, and stock. Andrew's Rodeo Company has become quite popular with the rodeo associations and cowboys, providing stock for a three-night plus slack rodeo. Andrew’s ability to produce quality stock is well noted with 1999 Hall of Fame Bucking Bull, BODACIOUS, with 135 outs and only 8 qualified rides.
Nathan grew up in Tuttle, Oklahoma. He wasn’t brought up in a rodeo family, but since he can remember he has always had a love for rodeo. At the age of 16 he started to pursue his love for rodeo through bullfighting. After high school he put all of his effort into his career and before long found success in the freestyle bullfights. In 2011 he won the Rex Dunn World Championship Freestyle Bullfights and is a 2x California Rodeo Salinas Champion.
Growing up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Cody roped most of the year while in high school, but he really wanted to be a bullfighter. A magazine ad for a three-day bullfighting school helped make it happen. “Once you do it a few times, you’re hooked,” Cody said of his experience at the school in 2007. “You’ve got the adrenaline rush in you, and you can’t stop doing it.”
John Harrison and team are known as "The Clown Family" among rodeo fans and professionals. You rarely see John at a rodeo with out his tribe. He and his wife, Carla have had 4 children. Addy, their oldest is embarking on a fun journey of her own. She interviews contestants & personnel and then asks them questions kids want to know about. Caz, their son, has been seen dressed just like John entertaining and doing flips during the mutton busting, but now is focusing on steer riding and all things hunting. Next in line would be Billie, a daughter, now an angel in Heaven now. Capping off the crew is the youngest girl, Charlee, who is the self proclaimed "leader" of everything, but especially the Clown Family!
John comes by the family aspect honestly, while he is a noted rodeo clown and barrelman, his late grandfather was rodeo legend, Freckles Brown. (Freckles rode the "unrideable" bull Tornado, the subject of Western Music songs, and was a World Champion Bull Rider in 1962) John was around rodeo and rodeo people his whole life. He became a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) in 1999, as a trick and roman rider, and trick roper. He later diversified and added barrelman to his PRCA card.
John has worked rodeos from coast to coast and has made 13 appearances at the prestigious National Finals Rodeo, three times as a specialty act performer an 10 times as a barrelman. You may see John just about anywhere in the United States entertaining crowds in his signature yellow shirt with red fringe and topped off with the red cowboy hat. He packs several different acts with him in his living quarters trailer, so there is no telling what you may see!
John feels blessed to be doing what he loves and with those he loves at his side.
